DeKalb County, GA — DeKalb County Police have identified four people who died in a crash that occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 8.

At 1 a.m., DeKalb County Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash that that resulted in four deaths. It occurred at I-285 east and Moreland Avenue.

“The victims were all male adults and there were at least four vehicles involved. The highway was shut down for at least five hours and has since reopened,” a spokesperson for the Police Department said.

In a subsequent update, the spokesperson said, “The investigation continues into the fatal accident, which claimed the lives of four people near Moreland/285 …, but I can confirm that a total of five people were struck while outside their vehicles at the time of the accident. The ages of the fatal victims are from late 40s to late teens. … The person responsible for the accident has been identified (an adult male) and he is also in a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation, and updates will be emailed as they become available.”

An incident report was not immediately available. The victims are:

– Robert Dupree – 32, Cobb County resident

– Roberto Johns – 47, DeKalb County resident

– Deljuane Mitchell III – 19, DeKalb County resident

– Damaje Favre – 17, DeKalb County resident

A fifth person involved in the crash who received live-threatening injuries remains in the hospital, the spokesperson said on Thursday, Feb. 11.
