DeKalb County, GA — DeKalb County says a criminal investigation is underway after a cyberattack targeting the Department of Innovation and Technology.

The attack has affected the county’s Tenant-Landlord Assistance Coalition program.

“Emails or applications previously sent to [email protected] were included on the server that was attacked,” the county says. “The county currently is unaware of any actual compromise or misuse of customers’ information.”

The county says within five minutes of detecting the attack, the county disabled the email account and disconnected the targeted server.

“The county is working with law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice, and determine what, if any, information may have been accessed,” the county says. “For more information about this incident and about DeKalb County’s Tenant-Landlord Assistance Coalition program, visit www.dekalbcountyga.gov/renthelp.”
