Tucker, GA — Doug Reynics has been a customer of Main Moon in Tucker for 20 years.
When he heard the news that a pressure cooker exploded, killing owner Mei Ying Chen, he knew he had to do something to help.
“We just want to support them,” Reynics said. “They’re like family.”
He started a Go Fund Me with a goal of $10,000 to help with burial and other expenses. So far, it has raised nearly $4,000.
The Go Fund Me says the family has some tough days ahead as they bury their family member and make plans to reopen the Tucker location on Hugh Howell Road.
“They need to pay a deposit to the funeral home for burial ASAP and subsequently put Mei to rest,” the Go Fund Me says. “They are now without income until such time as they can rebuild Main Moon (they want to re open). I spoke, this morning, to Min Lin (the familiar voice that warmly takes your order). She is facing the tasks at hand as best as she can. The families of the various family owned Main Moon Chinese Restaurants are hoping to have the funeral on May 24, 2021. Each store is normally closed on that day.”

Reynics said he often promotes the restaurant on social media, which drives customers their way. He doesn’t do it for money but said he’s often treated to an extra egg roll or two when he visits, a show of appreciation.
“We feel like they’re family,” Reynics said. “They’ve nourished us for so many years.”
Following the tragedy, members of the Tucker community left flowers at the restaurant’s front door.
