Clarkston, GA — The city of Clarkston is hosting a job fair on Wednesday, Aug. 11.

“Mayor Beverly H. Burks and the City of Clarkston, in collaboration with Worksource DeKalb, are excited to announce a ‘Back to Basics…Engage, Empower, Employ Career & Resource Expo.’ Over 30 businesses that are hiring are expected to be present, including MARTA, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), UPS, FedEx, and Grady,” a press release from the city says.

Education partners for the event are Georgia State University and Georgia Piedmont Technical College. Friends of Refugees will be there to provide advice about resumes and as the event’s career partner.

There will also be opportunities to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

“IRC and Core will also provide first shot COVID-19 vaccines at the Career Expo,” the press release says. “In addition, residents of 30021 zip code will receive $50 gift cards for local businesses.”

Clarkston Mayor Beverly Burks said COVID-19 has disrupted the local economy.

“As a result of COVID-19, many residents were layoff or furloughed over the past year and a half,” she said. “Our goal is to provide quality career opportunities for Clarkston and DeKalb County residents that connect unemployed workers with employers that are hiring and allow people to receive a livable wage.”

The event will be held at the Clarkston Community Center, 3701 College Ave., Clarkston, GA on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Masks are required for all Job Seekers attending the Career Expo, the press release says.
