Tucker, GA — Main Moon in Tucker is back in business months after an explosion killed the owner.

The Chinese restaurant shut down in May when a pressure cooker exploded, killing owner Mei Ying Chen.

It was a move made possible due to the generosity of the Tucker community. Doug Reynics, a customer of Main Moon for 20 years, started a Go Fund Me to help the family with burial and other expenses. The Go Fund Me raised nearly $30,000 to help the family.

In a Facebook post announcing the reopening, Chen’s family said, “We have no words other than, thank you! Unbelievable support for our family here. Thank You. Thank you. Thank you!”

Reynics said he often promotes the restaurant on social media, which drives customers their way. He doesn’t do it for money but said he’s often treated to an extra egg roll or two when he visits, a show of appreciation.

“We feel like they’re family,” Reynics said. “They’ve nourished us for so many years.”

Following the tragedy, members of the Tucker community left flowers at the restaurant’s front door.
