Thousands vaccinated during event in Stonecrest

Stonecrest, GA — DeKalb County reports that more than 2,000 people received COVID-19 vaccines on Oct. 2 during a vaccination event in Stonecrest.

Here’s the full announcement from DeKalb County:

[On Saturday], Oct.2, DeKalb County, in partnership with the DeKalb County Board of Health, Emory Healthcare and Medcura Health, administered an estimated 2,100 COVID-19 vaccinations.

“This has been a great day for DeKalb in our ongoing fight against COVID-19,” DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond said. “I thank all of our partners, employees and volunteers who contributed to this successful event.”

The vaccination event featured guest appearances by actor/comedian Chris Tucker, renowned gospel singer Dottie Peoples, singer Tony Terry and more.

The vaccination event began at 8 a.m. and county officials had planned to end at 1 p.m., but extended the event until about 4:30 p.m.

DeKalb County Board of Health and DeKalb County Fire Rescue administered voluntary COVID-19 vaccinations to anyone 12 years of age and older at The Mall at Stonecrest, 2929 Turner Hill Rd., Stonecrest, GA 30038. All persons receiving a vaccination also received a $100 prepaid debit card.

MedCura Health performed free COVID-19 tests.
