The Tucker Observer invited all candidates running in the Nov. 2 municipal election to submit up to three letters on their behalf. One of the letters could be written by the candidate. Here are the letters in support of Stone Mountain City Council Post 6 candidate Anthony Hernandez Wallen.

Dear Tucker Observer,

This is Anthony Hernandez-Wallen and I want to tell you why I am running for City Council. Here are some of my reasons/ideas

The City’s millage rate is of great concern to us so here are two examples of innovative revenue streams I would like implemented and along with sensible budget cuts we can begin the process of lowering our millage rates.

a) The $3.00 Valet Parking fee utilizing parking spaces adjacent to Main Street to service dining patrons to the downtown area: $1.00 to the city+$1.00 to the owner of the space +$1.00 to be split between the Valet Drivers and the Police

b) In anticipation of our parks being updated we can rent them out for weddings, outdoor church services, specifically curated concerts and other events that would provide for the common good and promote good citizenship behavior.

c) These are only two examples of innovative revenue streams but going forward there are many more ideas I have as well; with the potential to significantly reduce the millage rate and maintain services

d) Want a lower Mileage “give us an idea”

My other goals:

– The James B. Rivers Dr. is the front door to the City and one of my first priorities is to address the following:The flooding that takes place every time we have heavy rains. Bike paths, sidewalks. In my “walk about” this past weekend a resident brought a very dangerous situation to my attention on JBR Dr. I took steps to cure that danger.

– “Smart Design” Street Signs to encourage drivers to slow down and if they would not:use “technology” to fine them for not slowing down. The “Smart Design Street Signs” modus operandi can be replicated in areas that experience speeders and there are many..

I have a passion for Historical Architecture with a penchant for replicating 1920’s architectural designs into new and old buildings. I have rehabbed and built from the ground up several buildings : three of which can be viewed in The City of Pine Lake a few minutes from Stone Mountain. This skill would be very useful in assisting homeowners wanting to rehab their existing properties; especially on Main Street and Shermantown.

Best Regards,

Anthony Hernandez-Wallen Candidate for Council Post 6 City of Stone Mountain Ga.
