Tucker, GA — Tucker Mayor Frank Auman, who is up for reelection on Tuesday, Nov. 2, has placed a friendly wager with Mayor Jerry Mouton of Deer Park Texas.

The Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves are facing off in the world series.

The mayor of the city representing the losing team has to wear the other team’s jersey to a city council meeting.

“I’m glad Mayor Mouton is joining me in this friendly competition,” Auman said in a press release. “Here in Braves Country, we’re all excited about the run our team is on. The series with Houston should be a great one, but I’m confident you will not see me wearing an Astros jersey anytime soon.”

“As a die-hard Houston Astros fan, a little friendly competition is right up my alley,” Mouton said in the press release. “I look forward to watching the Tucker and Deer Park communities support their team throughout the World Series. Even though the Houston Astros are going to take home the trophy, we wish the Braves luck in competing for the title of 2021 World Series Champions.”

The press release notes the similarities between the two cities.

“Both are small cities with populations just shy of 40,000 people,” the press release says. “Both are suburbs of major cities, Tucker being just east of Atlanta and Deer Park sitting to the east of Houston. Each city is also about a 20-minute drive from their respective downtown city centers. And both cities are crazy about their baseball teams.”
