Tucker, GA — Kaylee’s Candy Boutique is planning a grand opening on Nov. 6 from 1-3 p.m. in Town Square Center, 3977 Lawrenceville Hwy, with music and a photo booth.

A spin-off of the cake pop mobile dessert truck, Kaylee’s Cake Pops and More, the candy shop is offering unique products from chocolate to popcorn and everything sweet in between.

Step into Kaylee’s Candy Shop and get wrapped into the delicious smell of vanilla and sugar. The treats are endless. Rice krispie bar flavors include espresso, banana pudding, candy corn, s’mores and confetti birthday cake. There’s local honey, giant flavored marshmallows, cookies, bubble gum, gummies and rock candy, and non-food treats like socks and candles that look like candy.

Shop owner Amber Tellis Carter, who loves the movie “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” said she has always wanted to open a candy shop. She envisions Kaylee’s Candy Boutique as a community space where families can enjoy game nights with a giant hot chocolate, or pick up a delicious gift.

“This is going to be a place where you can just come and relax and just be free. And enjoy candy,” said Tellis Carter, who has three children ages 15, 11 and 6 with her husband, Jason Carter.

Most vendors inside Kaylee’s Candy Shop are boutique businesses, whether Southern, local, Black-owned or women-owned. Tellis Carter grew up in Stockbridge and Snellville.

“My main goal is to focus on people that are small-owned businesses. My thing is just to have a showcase for customers,” said Tellis Carter.

That’s why it was crucial for Kaylee’s Candy Shop to carry products like New Orleans pralines (say it right: praw-leen) boxed in a simple white and red box, straight from the Pelican state, and candied pecans from Chattanooga, Tenn.

“I’m really big on packaging and presentation,” she said, pointing out a brightly colored cookie box from a local company. “I’m very intrigued by the old-fashion candy stores down in Savannah.”

Kaylee’s Candy Shop is also carrying specialty items, like a wheat-free chocolate bliss candy similar to M&Ms and snow chocolate, which is vegan.

Tellis Carter said her family has been very supportive. Her daughter, Kaylee, for whom the business is named, told her, “I’m just so proud of you.” When her husband saw the shop set up, he told her he finally understood her vision.

“This is everything that you dreamed of. You’re making it happen,” her husband said.
