Clarkston, GA — Blaise Barnett was abducted on Nov. 10 at 1 a.m. from 1000 Montreal Road. He was sitting in his car seat when someone made off with his family’s Ford Explorer.

Barnett, who is one-year-old, was found safe and in good condition on Thursday, Nov. 11.

On Jan. 14, Clarkston Police announced the arrest of a 17-year-old accused of taking the family’s Ford Explorer while the toddler was still inside.

“On Jan. 12, 2022 Clarkston Police Department obtained an arrest warrant on 17-year-old Dieu Doumdje for Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle in connection with the Nov. 10 vehicle theft and abduction of a 1-year-old victim …,” Sgt. Dustin Bulcher said. “Doumdje was arrested by Dekalb County School Police and taken to the Dekalb County Jail and booked on said charge. The Clarkston Police Department is currently still actively investigating this case and conducting interviews to determine if any other suspects are involved.”

The case has taken some bizarre twists and turns.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that police believe the kidnapping is somehow related to the shooting death of a 60-year-old man in a condominium complex. The suspects in that case are Barnett’s cousins. The victim was not connected to the kidnapping, according to the AJC.
