DeKalb County Board of Education accepting applications for Audit Committee

Photo by Dean HesseStone Mountain, GA – The DeKalb County Board of Education is seeking applicants for three community advisor positions on the DeKalb County Board of Education Audit Committee, a press release said.
The Audit Committee is composed of three board of education members and no more than three community advisors. The committee reviews financial operations of the DeKalb County School District and makes periodic reports to the board of education regarding financial reporting processes, audit process, internal controls fraud, waste, and abuse inquires, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
The Audit Committee works with the district’s Office of Internal Audits and Compliance and preform any other appropriate function as delegated by the board of education. Meetings are held quarterly, however, the committee may also meet on an as needed basis.
“The DeKalb County Board of Education and the school district is committed to transparency. We want the public to feel assured about the financial management of the district, and this is one of the steps of that assurance,” said Board Chair Vickie B. Turner.
“The DeKalb County Board of Education believes in taking meaningful steps to improve the district’s financial system. This committee will help the board engage at a more meaningful level with its oversight responsibilities,” said Board Vice Chair DiiJon DaCosta, Sr.
