Clarkston, GA — The Clarkston Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Friday morning.

Police responded to the 911 call on May 20 at 1 a.m. The shooting occurred in the 1400 building of the 1500 Post Oak apartments, located off Brockett Road.

“Once officers arrived, they located an unconscious male inside the apartment suffering from a gunshot wound,” Sgt. Dustin Bulcher said. “Officers immediately performed life-saving measures on the wounded male until the arrival of medical services. Upon arrival of medical services, the male was pronounced deceased.

“Officers and detectives immediately processed the scene. Officers and detectives were able to determine this incident was not a random act of violence and is being investigated as a domestic violence incident. Both the suspect and victim were inside the apartment arguing that resulted in the shooting death of victim. The suspect, 26-year-old female J’ana Rawat was on scene upon officers’ arrival and interviewed by detectives.”

Officers arrested Rawat. She is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and cruelty to children.
