Update: On June 24, DeKalb Police released photos in connection to his incident.

A spokesperson for the department said, “We need the publics assistance in identifying the individuals pictured below. On 06/22/2022 at approximately 9:15 p.m., the pictured persons of interest was involved in a dispute at 7046 Covington Hwy, where multiple people fired weapons and Charles Payne was killed. The individuals then fled the location before police arrived. Anyone with information is urged to call our Homicide Assault Unit at 770-724-7850 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS(8477).”

DeKalb County, GA — DeKalb County Police are investigating two shooting deaths one mile apart in Lithonia. DKPD said it is unknown at this time if the shootings are related. 

DKPD said at 9:28 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, DKPD officers responded to the Chevron gas station at 7046 Covington Highway in reference to a person shot. When they arrived, they located a deceased male in his late teens with an apparent gunshot wound. 

DKPD Public Information Officer Elise Wells said at the same time, officers “responded to a second report of a male shot in the 6300 block of Stablewood Way. When we arrived at that location, we discovered a male in his 20s with an apparent gunshot wound who was pronounced deceased at the scene as well.”

“It is unknown at this time if these are related. Evidence at the gas station scene indicates there were multiple parties discharging firearms in the parking lot. The investigations are continuing and we have no additional information at this time,” Wells said.
