DeKalb Sheriff’s Office arrests Stone Mountain man accused of fatal shooting

Stone Mountain, GA — The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Stone Mountain man accused of fatally shooting a Lithonia man in Stone Mountain.

“Stone Mountain, Georgia resident Tremale Leeshon Hester, 19, was taken into custody without incident Tuesday, August 23, 2022 by DeKalb Sheriff’s office investigators at a fast food restaurant on South Deshon Road in Lithonia, Ga.,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “An arrest warrant charges Mr. Hester with Murder in the shooting death of Lithonia resident Isaiah Artis, 17, on July 17, 2022. According to the warrant, Mr. Artis was found dead after crashing a car into a telephone pole on Ashley Lane in Stone Mountain. Authorities say the victim had been shot once in the head.”

There’s no known motive for the shooting. Hester is being held at the DeKalb County Jail without bond.
