Tucker, GA — A draft of DeKalb County’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan is available, one part of the DeKalb County 2050 unified plan to address arts and culture, housing, health and wellness, public safety, sustainability, retail and annexation policies.

Tucker-Northlake CID and the city of Tucker are working with DeKalb to recognize downtown Tucker as a destination, and the Northlake District as an activity center.

The recommendations of the planning process will help DeKalb leadership determine which transportation projects to pursue for local, state and federal dollars.

The second half of the plan is focused on transportation. An interactive map shows proposed transportation projects in unincorporated DeKalb, including trail connections into the CID from Mercer University, and multimodal improvements on LaVista Road west of Tucker-Northlake CID. The Unified Plan will be implemented in three tiers over the next 28 years.

At the inaugural city summit held by DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce, Tucker mayor Frank Auman sat on a panel with other mayors to discuss express lane transit planning to come to Northlake Parkway near Interstate 285. Tucker is currently building Segment 1A of a pedestrian and bike trail to connect the city.

“It’s obviously critically important to us,” Auman said at the Aug. 18 meeting.
